Thai Kick-boxing is very popular here in Bangkok and there are two large stadiums and a few smaller ones scattered around the city that display some great Thai boxing fights. Thai boxing is called Muay thai here in Bangkok and is well worth taking a look at, as it is so exciting. The areas of Lumpini and Ratchadamnoen stadiums show some of the best fighters in Thailand. They are live on a weekly basis. There is some great traditional music played during the breaks and it is amazing to watch the locals gambling all around you.
Bangkok plays host to several theme parks that offer some great rides on the outskirts of the city. Dream World theme park is just north of Don Muang airport and is packed at weekends. Also there is the Siam Water Park that has great wave pools and lots of water slides and whirlpools. This place also gets jam packed at weekends, with the locals trying to escape from the heat and cool down by the waterside.
At Safari World, you can take a bus ride through the wildlife park that is littered with lots of animals that are from the Asian continent.
If you are feeling stressed from all the strain of your job, etc, there is no better way to wind down than a traditional Thai massage. In the tourist areas, one will find several massage and reflexology parlours that will relieve a lot of the strain. The best places to go for relief are at the Wat Pho, which is Bangkok's oldest Buddhist temple and is really great value. You can also take a meditation course during your stay. Good places to go to are at Wat Mahathat and Wat Pak Nam, and the staff can speak good English.
